Welcome
The London Dance Ensemble is a group of young amateur dancers with dedicated interest in performance. The Ensemble’s mandate is to “provide both amateur and future professional dancers with theatrical performance experience and the skills that are outside the range of the technical studio training program.” Classwork training cannot duplicate many skills that are experienced in live performance. It is hoped both amateur and future professional members will graduate from the group taking forward to the community the ability to work with others to achieve a common goal, not merely as competitors, but as colleagues dedicated to the common goal of creating beauty and pleasure for others while building self-confidence and personal skills for their own futures.
The group was formed in 1996 and has official charitable organization status. Complementing two major performances a year – a Christmas show and a spring performance, the London Dance Ensemble also prepares concert pieces for various community events throughout London. The group has performed at the Western Fair, The London International Children’s Festival, Dance Werks UWO and the opening ceremonies of the Ontario Winter Games. Our productions meet Ontario’s curriculum requirement for the arts in education. Through our educational outreach program, performances have been made available to London’s school boards, the Memorial Boys and Girls Club, Big Sisters of London and numerous seniors’ citizens groups.
The Ensemble, under our Artistic Directors, encourages young dancers to apply as:
Plus, young dance students ages 6-8 years are invited to be part of our group’s Christmas production.
Please watch for further details about our auditions held in June of each year.
